Voice Leicester - Oracy Leaders' Network

Summary

Overview:

The aim of these sessions is to support oracy leaders/champions and will include:

1) Developing oracy practice

2) A focus on using oracy to enhance and elevate the teaching of writing

3) Support with action plans and cascading practice back in school

4) Networking opportunities

Each network will be supported by an oracy expert lead teacher who will support discussions, share additional resources and deliver a masterclass on an identified area based on real classroom practice.

Course Content:

Each session will include aspects of the below:

1) Oracy in the curriculum

2) Developing practice around oral composition and oral rehearsal for teaching writing

3) Leading oracy in school

4) Showcasing own practice

When completing this booking form, you will be booked onto all the training dates as below. (The booking confirmation will only show the date for session 1)

Session dates

Session 1: Friday 6th November 2026, 9am - 12pm, NSPCC

Session 2: Friday 29th January 2027, 9am - 12pm, NSPCC

Session 3: Thursday 18th March 2027, 9am - 12pm, NSPCC

Session 4: Thursday 20th May 2027, 9am - 12pm, NSPCC

Recommended for

Oracy and English leads or any individual with a responsibility for oracy. You don't need to have been a part of Voice Leicester previously to attend.

Cost

No extra charge for Leicester City maintained schools.
£360 for first delegate from non-maintained city schools and all Leicestershire schools. Additional delegates from the same school: 50% off the advertised rate.

Further Information

Each school is initially allocated two spaces, to ensure that as many schools as possible who wish to attend the training are able to. Once bookings have closed, any remaining spaces will be allocated to those on the waiting list. If we are unable to offer a school an additional place(s), they will have the option to change which members of staff attend the training. Involvement in this booking requires a commitment. By signing up, you and your school agree to:

Release named staff to attend date/s as detailed in the booking information.
Support staff with school-based activities, gap tasks and improvement work.
Engage fully with all booking opportunities, including any school-based support.
Provide at least 48 hours’ notice for cancellations. Late cancellations or non-attendance will incur a full charge.
- Maintained Leicester City primary schools (accessing the session/s free of charge) will be charged the non-maintained fee.
- Non-maintained and all Leicestershire schools will pay the advertised session fee / will not receive a refund when payment is taken upfront.
Non-maintained and all Leicestershire schools: Please note that invoices will be raised in accordance with the booking details provided. Where your organisation requires a Purchase Order, this should be requested and then supplied to finance@sdsa.net within 2 weeks of making the booking.
